Well, Maybe This is the Last Post…

I could not resist putting up this photo from Luke Winn’s Tourney Blog.  He is right…it is an unbelievable shot (photo).  One of the best in my opinion.  Click on it to see the full picture.

A Look Back…

Published by Dwayne under General

What a Moore Madness!  The 2006 NCAA Basketball Championship set several records as far as upsets and lowest seeds making a go at it.  It was definetly wacky as far as the Moore brackets were concerned.  The 2006 Moore Madness started off with a bang.  The play-in game almost made the differene in the crowning of a new champion.  That is how close the brackets were this year.  Most everyone thought that either Duke or UConn would be the last team dancing.  That is most people, there was a member of the Moore Madness competition that did pick UT to win it all.  We will not name names, but lets just say that when they were trying to post an “anonymous” tip, they had no clue that each post has an “entry” name or ID.  Needless to say, the tip was not so anonymous.  I’m not saying…but I’m saying….

Round two was just as brutal.  George Mason hurt us all on many levels.  There were many games that we had all picked the same.  Yet there were a few games to provide the much needed separation between competitors.  The second round also gave rise to the fall of the past champion.  While I am glad to be the current champion, I must admit that a five year reign atop the Moore Madness competiton does make one a “bracketologist,” even if you do pick your teams five minutes before the first game and based on whether or not you like their mascot!

The Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds were very nerve wracking for me, personally.  I knew I was close to winning the coveted Moore Cup, if only certain teams could win.  After re-reading that last sentence - that sounds so profound!! Is that not the whole logic of being the Moore Madness champion?  I believe that this has to be one of the first, if not the only, years that only two people had one team each in the final four and only one person had a team playing in the final game.  March Madness is confusing.

On that note, this will be the final post, unless other provide reflections, for the 2006 Moore Madness season.  I appreciate the kind comments…it was a joy to provide this for the family.  I hope that each of you enjoyed it.  I will make some additions over the “off season.”  I want to create a “Hall of Champions” with what information we have.  I want to create a detailed page explaining what Moore Madness is all about.  I also want to find a different theme for the site, mabye utilizing some graphics.  Who knows!  The possibilities are endless.

I will tell you how I plan on winning next year.  Yeah…I know it is a little early to talk about next year.  I mean, we have not even had my parade yet!  I plan on defeating you all once again with the use of the Staples “Easy” Button!

Response Speech

Published by Becca under General

Okay, so I lost this year…Big deal. I WON FIVE (5) years in a row. As Dad said, this year I tried to hard. All the years before, I picked the winners in 5 minutes. This year, I thought about my choices, selecting each one very carefully, and changed my choices several times. It was this planning that was my mistake. See, no one could have predicted the way this year turned out. Show me someone with a perfect bracket…Oh you can’t?…Because there isn’t one.

But I digress, next March is just around the corner, and with that corner, each one of you will see me back as the Moore March Madness Winner (the way it should be).

I do want to offer a big congratulations to the winner this year, Dwayne Sr. You have possession the coveted Moore Cup, protecting it and displaying it with pride, until next March when the Cup will be returned to its rightful owner (myself).

Thank you and Good Night

I also would like to thank Dwayne Sr. for putting together this web site. Thanks to the web site and blogs, the members of this unique clan were able to keep up with the standings without having to copy each players bracket and marking the “W” and “L” of each game. There was always such confusion with this system for me, but thanks to Dwayne, I don’t have to worry about it.

With that being said, on behalf of the Moore Madness Clan, I want to say Thank you to Dwayne, Sr. for making this awesome web site devoted to our obsession.

Thank you and Good Night

Rebecca Leigh Moore

That’s all I keep hearing and reading……

You were the kid saying, “You dropped your ice cream.  You dropped your ice cream.”

I bet Jennifer picked Dwayne’s bracket.  Let’s vote…Who wants Dwayne declared a loser with me (Emily) replacing him on the cup?  (Dwayne, I can already see the hands in the air…even your wife’s!!)

Final Standings

Published by Dwayne under Standings

Who would have thought at the beginning of the tournament that Florida would be the champion?  Better yet, who would have predicted (aside from a male) that there would have been a Moore Man on top at the end of the dance?  Here are the Day 10 (Final) Standings:

  1. Dwayne 41-23
  2. Ernie 39-25
  3. Jennifer 39-25
  4. Melody 39-25
  5. Eric 38-26
  6. Emily 37-27
  7. Rebecca 35-29

I guess I HAVE to delcare myself the 2006 winner of the Moore Cup Trophy!  Yeehaw!!

I believe I heard that there will be an audio file of the winner’s acceptance speech later today.  No press conference has been set as of yet.
